Super Bowl 2013 Parking Tips – Superdome in New Orleans

If you are going to the SuperBowl in New Orleans and need to park your car to get to the big game, it’s important to plan ahead.  Take an in-depth look at your options and recommendations and have a great time in Louisiana.Most of the garages and surface lots close to the stadium will be controlled by the NFL and special permits or passes will be required to park in these areas.

Although it hasn’t been released officially yet, we believe that the Mercedes-Benz Superdome parking garage 1, 1a, 2, 2a, 5, 6 and the Champions Garage as well as surface lots 3 and 4 will be dedicated for official use.

If you can not gain access to any of the these options, your choices are as follows.

1. Secure Parking via Parking Whiz in advance, they have control of several lots around the Stadium, prices at Parking Whiz range from $25 to $300 depending on your proximity to the stadium. 2. Arrive early and find street parking, Metered street parking is free after 6pm around the Stadium so you can pay for a few hours as you arrive then let it expire after 6pm.  From these meters walking to the game is easy and safe.

3. Pay attention to the local newspaper and utilize the Official shuttling service from local malls and large areas.  This is probably the best way, you purchase a pass, proceed to the lot and park, wait in line to board buses that move quickly to and from the stadium. To be honest, this is the least stressful option, be sure to head towards the game mid-day, there are plenty of places to eat and drink around as you approach Canal Street.

 TIP: Bring small bills and plenty of quarters. There are several types of pay stations, some credit card, some are cash only lots and metered street parking options so you need to prepare for all of these locations as you will be wise to take the first good spot you find and get on with your day.

IDEA: So you don’t lose your car after the game print a Superdome map and mark your parking location so you can find your car after the event ends, as it will look alot different outside after the game is over, in the dark with tens of thousands people departing along with you.   As we mentioned previously the NFL’s Official on site Parking details for the Mercedes Benz Super Dome is the most convenient with great signage and easy access to the stadium. The Dome and the Arena complexes are adjacent to the Stadium and combined have 7 parking garages and 2 surface lots with a 9,100 car capacity.

Important Parking Notes:

Overnight parking is not permitted in any surface lot or garage, nor is re entry.  View the Super Bowl Parking Guide for the latest updates on where you can safely place your vehicle during the game.

Disabled Parking: Currently located at Auxiliary Lot 3 and all garages when available.   Over-sized vehicle parking is located at lot 3 and garage 5 & 6 ground level only but this is limited, so come early, some of the Parking Whiz lots have also been made available for these type of vehicles.

Please note that all parking garages are cash only.

Auxiliary Lots: There are an abundance of parking lot options on the way to the stadium and the signs will be apparent as you approach from all points.   Follow these helpful parking lot locator’s for your best choice on Super Sunday.

Insiders Tip: This works for college games and Saints games so it may be good for the Super Bowl.  Arrive early and check South Rampart Street where several tailgaters, RV’s and Tents are set up, look there for a free space and if you strike out, check the parking garage right across the street.   Use these tips to have a safe and hassle free parking experience at the 2013 Super Bowl at the Mercedes Benz Super-dome in New Orleans LA!

Nola Note: Street Cars will be accessible for this event, the Super Bowl 47 line will run down Loyola Avenue from the Union Passenger Terminal, where Amtrak trains and intercity buses are based, all the way to Canal Street for the game.
